Ranjeet Rajwada, connu comme le ‘Prince du Ghazal’, l’un des finalistes de Sa Re Ga Pa de la cuvée 2010 à Maurice, a foulé notre sol le mercredi 9 novembre. Il est accompagné d’autres artistes dont Farid Ahmed, un chanteur talentueux prometteur et des musiciens, Jahir Hussein et Randhir Kumar....

Suffering from brain haemorrhage, renowned ghazal singer Jagjit Singh, recipient of the Padma Bushan award, whose concert I have had the pleasure and honour of attending, sadly passed away in Mumbai’s Lilavati hospital on 10th October 2011. Sincere condolences to his family, and may his soul rest in peace. Expressing his deep sorrow in the Delhi Assembly, Opposition Leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra said « a bright star has vanished from the luminous sky of ghazal world », but his music and contribution to the world of music will live on forever....

Renowned Indian ghazal singer Jagjit Singh passed away on Monday at the age of 70 in the Intensive Care Unit of Mumbai Lilavati hospital in India due to brain hemorrhage....

“Hm Mm Honton Se Chhoo Lo Tum, Mera Geet Amar Kar Do, ban Jaao Meet Mere Meri Preet Amar Kar Do...” Ces paroles de “Prem Gheet”, une chanson d’amour des années 80, a fait battre bien des coeurs. Et bon nombre doivent s’en souvenir encore avec une douce nostalgie… Pour le plus grand bonheur de ses fans mauriciens, le légendaire chanteur de ghazal, Jagjit Singh sera à Maurice du 1er au 3 juillet. Mais c’est le 2 juillet qu’il nous charmera lors d’un concert qui marquera le jubilé d’or de sa carrière....
