100 g flour
50 g margarine or butter (butter gives better flavour)
50 g sugar
10 g ground almond
1 egg (beaten)
1 tablespoon milk
a few drops of almond essence
1 dessertspoon almond slices
Preheat oven to 190 degrees Celsius.
Sift the flour in a bowl. Rub in the butter until mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
Add sugar and ground almonds.
Add enough egg and milk to get a stiff dough. Save some eg for glazing.
Knead dough until smooth.
Roll out and cut with a biscuit cutter.
Glaze with beaten egg and top with almond slices. Place on baking tray.
Bake in oven for 10 minutes.
Allow to cool on wire rack.
Serve.
