Mohit Chauhan in concert
Le Matinal and The Independent Daily are bringing Indian singer Mohit Chauhan for a unique concert on Saturday, November 13 at the J&J Auditorium in Phoenix. The singer has made a name for himself in the Hindi film industry for his soulful renditions like “Masakalli” from the movie ‘Delhi 6’, “Tum se hi” from ‘Jab We Met’ and “Pee loon” from ‘Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai’ among others.
This singer from India’s mountain state Himachal Pradesh is said to be a quick learner.
He has a Master’s in Geology, and was studying in Delhi with the ambition of becoming an ad copywriter. But music beckoned as a full time career, and as lead singer of the band Silk Route, Mohit shot to fame with the popular song “Dooba dooba rehta hoon” which was also innovatively shot into a video showing a sinking Volkswagen car.
This was followed by a series of successful music albums. The band dissolved and in 2008 Mohit released his solo album ‘Kalam’, for which he composed and sung.
The singer took part in the television reality series ‘Mission Ustaad’ on the entertainment channel 9X.
His latest chartbusters include the songs “Tu ne jo na kaha” for the 2009 film ‘New York’, “Ye dooriyan” for ‘Love Aaj Kal’, and ‘Pehli baar mohabbat ki hai’ for ‘Kaminey’.
Earlier, Mohit had lent his voice to the popular song “Khoon chala” from the superhit movie ‘Rang De Basanti’, set to music by celebrated Indian composer A R Rahman in 2006.
Besides singing, Mohit also plays some musical instruments like the guitar and flute. Said to be an adventurous soul, the singer also has a homely side — he enjoys cooking.
On his maiden concert in Mauritius, the singer is keen to interact with his fans and find new listeners. Watch this space for more on Mohit.
