The aircraft involved was Air Mauritius flight MK943 bound for Perth. An Air Mauritius spokeswoman confirmed there was a suspicious item found on-board the aircraft. It is believed a man was detained on board, but other passengers were safely escorted from the plane, which was undamaged. Sources said there had been a bomb threat, but this was not confirmed by an aiport spokesman. A Federal Police spokeswoman said the incident was ongoing but there was no danger to the travelling public. She said passengers had been disembarked from the plane without incident. The passengers have been brought back to the airport terminal by bus, while Federal Police searched the aircraft for any suspicious items. The MFB said 13 trucks were responding to the incident and two had already arrived on the scene. A Melbourne Airport spokesman said that the incident had not disturbed other flights and the terminal was operating as normal.
