Blog: Waste of Time
Do we realize the amount of time we waste in futile discussions and conversations? Lately, since speculations began about the resignation of SAJ, until the actual resignation on March 31st, the MMM/MSM propaganda machinery made people believe that government was falling and elections will be held soon. No such thing happened. Only the attention of people was diverted.
I suggest that MRA and ICAC should open an enquiry on the visible signs of wealth of all those who are trying to corrupt MPs. Already Pravind Jugnauth and Maya Hanoomanjee have been arrested and released on bail. I do not understand what MRA and ICAC are waiting for to act against those who are flaunting so much money.
The presidential address to Parliament is scheduled for April 16th. Why is not the opposition waiting for the vote on the address to show their strength on the floor of the House? They know that government will show its majority. Hence their strategy to poison the minds of the people with futile talks.
Has anybody seen any enthusiasm in the street to welcome citizen politician SAJ? Except for the diehard MSM followers, it was indifference. A journalist said that every time SAJ utters the word 'country', it should be substituted with the word Pravind. He has not come to serve and save the country but his son, Pravind. People say that SAJ is ridiculing himself when he says that he has stepped down to save the country. For nine years he has been the President of the Republic, seven years were spent with Navin Ramgoolam as Prime Minister. The Presidency is an integral part of the State machinery. As such the President is party to all government decisions.
Now, that his son and other members of his party are arrested and released on bail, he finds fault with the government. He has resigned just to rescue them.
In the process he has no alternative than to bow to Paul Berenger and accept all conditions of MMM for the Medpoint II alliance. Paul Berenger has the power to make and unmake the Jugnauth family. Now that it serves his purpose he is reconciling Ashock Jugnauth with his brother and his nephew.
I feel good when family members are united, but this one reminds me of the Gang of Four in China at the end of President Mao reign. The gang led the cultural revolution and caused a lot of harm to the country until they were arrested, tried and sent to jail. Even in Mauritius there was a gang of four operating in the eighties during SAJ's tenure as Prime Minister. It was disbanded and the members have joined several parties.
Between 2000 and 2003 it is well known that SAJ was a figure-head prime minister. It was Paul Berenger who was exercising all the powers. If by accident in three years' time MMM/MSM wins the general elections SAJ will be 85.
Will he be able to exercise the powers of the prime minister. Is it not clear that MMM is using him to grab power? Is it not a pity that SAJ will go in history as a 'vendeur'? I am sure that people has seen through the MMM/MSM deal. For SAJ it is just an attempt to save his son and his family interests.
On the other hand, Navin Ramgoolam has inaugurated the double lane highway between Forbach and Grand Bay, laid the foundation of the Bagatelle dam in front of a massive crowd in pouring rains.
The crowd was mobilised to show its solidarity to him. Minister Pillay has announced free Wifi service; the Caudan overbridge will be operational in a couple of days. Minister Bachoo can inaugurate a new road every week if he so wishes. Government is doing things. The opposition is just wasting time talking.
A diplomat told me that when the monsoon fails, government falls in India. The rains have come; reservoirs are full over ground and underground. I asked him whether he means that the Gods want the government to stay.
